Jovan Upshaw – Deputy Chief of Police

 

 

 

 

Let’s meet the Deputy Chief of Police for the Phoenix Police Department

 

Jovan Upshaw has a total of 15 years of law enforcement experience. He started his law enforcement career as a Harvey Police Cadet at 17 years old. At the age of 22 years old Jovan Upshaw was hired by the Dolton Police Department attended the Northeast Multi-Regional Training police academy and graduated as a certified police officer. After that Jovan Upshaw was hired by the Robbins Police Department and excelled up the ranks. At the age of 26 years, Jovan Upshaw was appointed Patrol Commander, the youngest Commander in the entire state of Illinois. Upon serving 12 years with the Robbins Police Jovan Upshaw was appointed Deputy Chief with the Phoenix Police Department under the leadership of Chief Roy Wells Sr for 3 years.

 

Jovan Upshaw attended Simeon High School, Chicago, IL, Moraine Valley Community College, and received several certifications through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board.

 

Jovan Upshaw is currently a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Illinois Council of Police, Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System Mobile Field Force, and South Suburban Association Chiefs of Police.
