The function of the Treasurer’s Office of the Village of Phoenix is to maintain a solid financial foundation by overseeing spending and budget discipline. In order for me to accomplish this, the Treasurer’s Office must operate with excellence, internal controls and external collaborative partnerships. In addition, we must adhere to state, federal, and county agencies’ regulations with integrity and transparency. As the economy’s fabric changes, it impacts our municipal financial outlook and availability of financial resources.
The Village of Phoenix has been approved for a federal grant from the Department of Justice for our Police Department, however, according to Governor Pritzker, “federal funding uncertainty is due to President Trump adding a new wild card to an already challenging budget year when his Office of Management and Budget directed federal agencies to suddenly stop disbursing many federal funds. Thankfully, the directive was quickly walked back and put on hold by a federal judge but caused a day of confusion in federal, state and local government. It also opened new questions about how much the state can count on federal funding during Trump’s presidency.” I have worked for the Village of Phoenix for over 38 years and I am a lifelong resident. I have seen many obstacles through the years.
During these turbulent times, we have always managed to achieve our goals for the Village of Phoenix in the Finance Department. We are deeply rooted in faith and we are standing on that faith. I am dedicated to the Village and thankful for being a servant of our community.
